People urged to check on vulnerable neighbours
Surrey Fire and Rescue ServicePeople are being urged to check on elderly neighbours and others who may be vulnerable this winter.
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has launched its "You're Their Person" campaign, encouraging loved ones, carers and utility workers to look out for those in need.
The service says anyone identified can be referred for a free Safe and Well Visit, which includes fitting smoke alarms, planning escape routes and offering advice on fire safety, fall prevention and home security.
David Nolan, SFRS area commander for prevention, said: "By taking a moment to check on them and referring them for a Safe and Well Visit, you could make a life-saving difference."
SFRS says every year it delivers thousands of the visits, which can be booked via Surrey County Council's website.
