A former nightclub where rapper Stormzy once performed is now being considered for conversion into a place of worship.

The Loft on Dalkeith Place in Kettering, Northamptonshire, is the subject of a change-of-use proposal submitted by The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Emmanuel Chapel.

The historic building, built in 1880, previously operated as a nightclub and hosted live performances, including an appearance by rapper Stormzy in 2015, alongside artists Rudekid and Izzie Gibbs.

Planning documents published by North Northamptonshire Council state the new use will "operate between 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Sunday and will provide for a congregation of up to 300 persons at any one time."

According to the application, planning documents state the church would occasionally hold overnight vigils, which could sometimes run until 03:00.

The former nightclub has now closed, and no external alterations are proposed as part of the change of use.
