Drone light show planned for Liberation Day
States of GuernseyA drone light show is being organised to mark the 80th anniversary of Guernsey's Liberation Day.
It is due to be the first time a public display of its type has happened in the island.
The 10-minute performance will involve 150 drones in the skies above St Peter Port.
Starting at 21:00 BST it will be followed by the Liberation Day fireworks, the traditional finale to the day's events.
States of GuernseyLocal musician Jean Owen has been tasked with arranging the accompanying music, which she said she hoped would help "celebrate freedom".
It will include Copeland's Fanfare for the Common Man, Holst's Jupiter and Stravinsky's Firebird.
Deputy Sue Aldwell, from the education, sport and culture committee, said it wanted to do "something special" to mark the anniversary.
She said she hoped the performance would "unlock a completely different way to come together and reflect on our unique past".
