A 59-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in a house in Oldham.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene in Plumpton Close, Royton, just before 20:00 GMT on Saturday.

GMP said its officers have been called out to reports of an altercation.

Det Insp Louise Kelly said: "Any incident of this nature is naturally shocking and I fully appreciate that the community will be worried and shocked by this news."

The force said it was treating the case as an "isolated incident" and urged anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage that may help with the investigation to come forward.
