Woman killed and three passengers injured after Fife crash

A 48-year-old woman has died and three passengers were taken to hospital following a two-car crash in Fife.

The incident, which involved a involved a black Nissan Qashqai and a white Volkswagen Polo, happened at around 23:10 on Friday on the B981, between Cluny and the Chapel junction roundabout.

Police said the Polo driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers from the car were taken taken to hospital, where one remains in a serious condition.

Officers said the 33-year-old female driver of the Qashqai was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.

The road was closed to allow inquiries to be carried out and reopened at about 06:30.

Sgt Louise Birrell said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this extremely difficult time.

"Inquiries into the crash are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything around the time to contact officers."
