More 'highly likely' to lose water after burst main
Charlie MaynardThames Water says it is "highly likely" more homes and businesses are set to lose their water supply as repairs to a burst water main continue.
The burst pipe - in a field next to Oxford Road at Eynsham - is affecting those in the OX7, OX18, OX28, OX29, GL7 postcodes.
Apologising for the disruption, Thames Water said the damaged pipe had been isolated on Wednesday evening but excavation to get to it had proved "more difficult than expected due to excessive ground water."
Two water stations have been set up at Sainsbury's in Witney and the Morrisons in Carterton. The water firm added that additional staff were being brought in "to support, with special measures in place to keep hospitals in supply".
Carterton Town CouncilThe water firm said: "It is highly likely that further customers are going to experience water outages but we are trying to rebalance the network to minimise."
It added that due to the "nature of the burst, a standard clamp fix for the pipe was unusable" with special fittings being made.
It said any residents who might need extra help while supplies were disrupted should sign up to the company's priority services register.
Carers, friends, or family can also register on behalf of someone they think could benefit from extra support.
