Plan for 200 homes next to village set for approval
GooglePlans to build 200 homes on the edge of Newbold Verdon are set to be approved by councillors.
Developer Bloor Homes has applied to build new homes, a shop and sport pitches on 20.7 acres (8.38 hectares) of farmland south of Bosworth Lane.
Planning officers from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council have recommended councillors grant planning permission for the scheme when they discuss it on Tuesday.
In documents sent to the council, the company said it wanted to create new homes that would "positively integrate" into the area.
However, there have been 15 objections to the proposal from people who live nearby.
They include concerns about the loss of agricultural land, possible harm to wildlife and pressure on existing public services.
Officials have requested a series of financial contributions which total £3,353,122 from the developer if permission is granted.
They include payments for Newbold Verdon Medical Centre, the village primary school, The Market Bosworth School and the Dorothy Goodman School for special education needs pupils in Hinckley.
Leicestershire County Council is also seeking funding for improvements to roads in the area.
