Police said they had concluded their investigation into Neil Thompson's death

The death of a man found on school grounds was accidental, police have concluded.

Neil Thompson, known to friends and family as Chuck, was discovered with fatal injuries at Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton on 19 January.

"We have now completed a thorough investigation into Mr Thompson's death and a file is being submitted to the coroner as an accident," said West Midlands Police.

The 45-year-old's family previously described him as "a beautiful son, brother, father... and very much loved in the community of fishing".

The death resulted in searches of the surrounding area and a CCTV trawl to try and establish how he died.

"Our thoughts remain with his family who have been kept updated throughout," said the force's spokesperson.
