Market hall to shut for months for roof repairs
East Staffordshire Borough CouncilA market hall is set to close for up to six months for repairs of the roof to be carried out.
Burton Market Hall will shut from Monday, with work expected to be completed by March, East Staffordshire Borough Council said.
The local authority said the work was part of its commitment to preserving the market hall's historic character.
In April, the council announced it would drop market stall rents to bring them in line with charges in other areas.
Bosses said regular updates on the repairs would be shared as it progressed.
"Burton Market Hall is a cherished part of our town's heritage," said councillor Paul Walker.
"These roof works are an important step in ensuring the building remains fit for purpose and continues to serve our community well into the future.
"We appreciate everyone's patience during this temporary closure and look forward to welcoming visitors back once the improvements are complete."
