Smoke warning as fire tears through industrial unit

Nine fire engines were sent to the scene on Sunday night

Firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at a industrial unit with residents urged to keep their windows and doors closed due to the thick smoke.

The fire on Green Lane, Fordingbridge, broke out shortly before 23:00 BST on Sunday.

At its height crews in nine fire engines were sent to the fire that swept through the building causing its roof to collapse. Crews remain at the scene.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was currently unknown and there were no injuries reported. Road closures are in place on Green Lane and Salisbury Road.
