A man who attacked a fellow hotel guest in a dispute over noise has been jailed for 11 years and two months.

Adam Sylvester headbutted and then repeatedly punched his victim at the Featherstone Hotel, on Station Road in Featherstone, in April 2025.

Sylvester, 29, had knocked on the victim's room door to complain about noise before the assault, which left the male guest with multiple facial and head injuries.

The defendant, of no fixed abode, had been due to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court on Monday for one charge causing grievous bodily harm, but changed his plea to guilty ahead of proceedings.

Det Con Matthew Sherriff, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "This was a horrific attack which resulted in the victim suffering serious and long-lasting face and head injuries.

"I'm pleased that justice has been served and that the court saw fit to hand down an extended sentence that reflects the truly violent course of action taken by Sylvester."
