Palliative care team launches guide for islanders
Palliative CareGuernsey's specialist palliative care team has launched a new guide aimed at helping islanders navigate the challenges of a life-limiting illness.
The guide offers practical advice on care options, benefit entitlements and making a will, among other things, and is tailored specifically to the needs of the local community, the team said.
The team is primarily based at Castel Hospital and includes specialist nurses, a specialist occupational therapist and a palliative care social worker.
They supported people with a range of incurable conditions and could provide care at home, bosses said.
Nurse Catherine Whetstone said: "We understand that discussing death and dying can feel scary, but planning ahead allows people to share their wishes and live as well as possible for as long as possible."
