Man trapped and headbutted woman he met on Tinder
Wiltshire PoliceA man who headbutted and punched a woman he met on Tinder has been jailed.
Jake Clark, from Portway, Chippenham, met the woman on 6 March and used her bank card to withdraw hundreds of pounds, Wiltshire Police said.
The 29-year-old became aggressive and assaulted the victim, injuring her eye socket. He then smashed her phone and prevented her from leaving his home, the force said.
Clark pleaded guilty to causing actual body harm and false imprisonment on 19 August. He was jailed for three years and two months when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.
Police were able to arrest Clark a day after the attack as a passer-by called officers when they saw the woman asking for help from inside his property.
Det Con Daniel Jackson, of Wiltshire Police, said Clark "did everything he could" to stop the woman from getting help and it was "so fortunate" someone saw her and called the police.
Speaking after Clark's sentencing on Friday, Det Con Jackson said the victim's physical injuries had healed but she still felt "extremely anxious and nervous".
"Clark is a violent man, he knew his victim had been searching for companionship but he instead took advantage of this and subjected her to a terrifying ordeal, leaving her with extremely nasty injuries," he added.
Clark was also handed a five-year and nine-month restraining order.
