A man in his 60s has died after his car came off a road and hit a hedge, police have said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene following the one-vehicle collision in Forton, Lancaster, at around 09:49 GMT on Friday, a Lancashire Police spokesperson said.

Officers attending the incident found a black Ford Kuga had come off the road and hit a hedgerow on Coronation Avenue at the junction with School Lane.

Det Sgt Matt Davidson of the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "My thoughts are very much with the driver's family and loved ones at this distressing time."

He appealed for any witnesses or anyone with video footage to contact them, including anyone who saw the vehicle on School Lane or the A6 prior to the crash.
