Police have launched an investigation after there were reports of a group of males fighting with bladed weapons outside a supermarket in Nottinghamshire.

Officers were called to the incident at the Asda supermarket in Priestsic Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, at about 23:57 GMT on Friday.

It was reported a group of males wearing face coverings were involved in the incident, police added.

A 17-year-old boy suffered a wound to his arm and a 24-year-old man suffered an injury to his elbow. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Det Sgt Adam Penn, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We are treating this incident seriously and a team of detectives are working hard to locate those involved.

"I would urge anyone who saw what happened or who may have any other information which could help us with our inquiries, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to please come forward and to speak to us.

"Similarly, we'd like to hear from anyone who may have recorded dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage which may assist us with our ongoing inquiries.

"We fully understand how concerning this will be within the community, however I want to reassure people that at this stage we are currently treating this as an isolated incident."

A cordon remains in place while officers continue to investigate the incident and establish the full circumstances.
