A man has been jailed for three years for his role in disorder in Leeds in summer 2024.

Trouble erupted in Harehills on 18 July after police helped social workers take four children into emergency foster care, who were later returned to their extended family.

Rica Palaghia, 42, of Gledhow Terrace in Leeds, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday after admitting one offence of violent disorder.

West Yorkshire Police said he was the 34th person to be convicted over offences connected to the night of the incident, when a bus was set on fire.

The force said 86 people had been arrested and 43 charged as part of the ongoing investigation.
