Patients will be able to manage their appointments digitally

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust will be the first to test new mobile app features that allow patients to manage their appointments digitally.

The trust, which covers Hull, East Yorkshire and parts of North Yorkshire, has received NHS England funding to introduce the features, which include being able to book and amend appointments, and receive notifications.

It is hoped the improvement will cut down on missed appointments as well as making it easier to cancel and reschedule them to improve waiting times.

The trust's Lee Rickles said: "This introduction will support patient experience as well as equip our clinical staff with up-to-date information to support decisions and care."

He added: "We are really pleased to have been chosen for this opportunity by NHS England.

"As a trust we are committed to a digital-first approach and how this aligns to the NHS 10-year plan."
