A former volunteer police constable has pleaded not guilty to raping a teenage girl.

Thomas Stokes, 25, of Walsall, was charged with raping a girl aged 13-15 and appeared at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday.

Stokes, who was a special constable with Staffordshire Police, was released on bail ahead of a trial which he was told was provisionally scheduled for 28 June.

The alleged offence is understood to have taken place in July 2020.
