A supermarket plans to raise part of its car park in a bid to prevent the space turning into a lake when the land floods.

Tesco has applied to raise some spaces in the car park of its Bognor Regis superstore on Shripney Road in West Sussex by 2m (6.5ft).

The plans, submitted to Arun District Council, say that the total number of spaces will also be reduced.

The store had to close in November 2023 due to flooding. When it did re-open, it was for walk-in customers only as the car park was still under water.

The deadline for residents to send in their views is the beginning of April, with the council due to make a decision later that month.

Tesco has been approached for comment.
