A man has been rescued after getting trapped in a cave for about eight hours in Derbyshire.

Volunteers working for Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation said they were called to Streaks Pot, near Eyam, just after 15:00 BST on Saturday to assist the recovery of a trapped caver.

The organisation said it sent 21 volunteers to the scene, where they identified the caver who was uninjured but unable to progress past a tight point.

A spokesman said the team worked worked to widen some sections to free the man, who returned to the surface at about 23:00 before being driven back to his accommodation.
