A woman has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life after four women were rescued from a house fire.

Seven crews from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) went to Friday's fire in Two Mile Ash, Milton Keynes.

BFRS said the blaze broke out on the ground floor of a two-storey residential building at 08:12 BST.

Thames Valley Police has charged Courtney Bass, 24, of no fixed abode, with one count of arson with intent to endanger life and two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

She has also been charged with one count of arson with recklessness as to whether life would be endangered.

Firefighters rescued four women from the building. Three were treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

Ms Bass was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court on Monday.
