Los Mapaches said performing at the venue will be "a dream come true"

A Beatles tribute band who travelled to Liverpool from Peru has described being given the chance to play at the legendary Cavern Club as "a dream come true".

Los Mapaches are made up of brothes Piero Rozas, Jose Rozas, Fabrizio Rozas and Barrow-born Jevan Turner.

The band had been visiting the city to see various famous Beatles locations as part of their six-date UK tour, but when they spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside they had not managed to secure a venue to perform.

However, Jon Keats, director of the Cavern Club, got wind of the group's visit and offered them a Saturday night slot - something Jose said "means everything" to the boys.

Los Mapaches have become a success in Peru, performing on the tribute talent show Yo Soy and gaining thousands of followers along the way.

"I think the Beatles are the best band ever," said Fabrizio.

The Cavern Club is considered the birthplace of the Beatles

He continued: "It's pretty crazy in Peru because people there speak Spanish and they don't always know what the words mean, but there's just something in the sound and the way they sing which makes the music connect."

Arriving at the birthplace of the Beatles was surreal, the band said.

"We've seen all these streets on video online, but being here is just great because you can feel the energy, even after all these years," said Jose.

When asked what it would mean for the group to perform at the Cavern Club, they said "they would pass out".

"They should get a very good reception," Keats said.

"I looked at them, listened to some of their stuff online and thought they're young, they look great, so let's make this dream happen."
