Masked gang leaves man badly injured in Wishaw attack

A masked gang has subjected a man to a "terrifying attack" in North Lanarkshire, leaving him seriously injured.

Three assailants, all dressed in dark clothing and wearing face masks, assaulted the 37-year-old inside a premises in Wishaw at about 22:50 on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene, in Abernethyn Road, and he was taken to hospital for treatment for what were described as "serious injuries".

Police have been gathering CCTV footage and have asked anyone with information to contact them.

Det Con David McLaughlin said: "This was a terrifying incident for the man involved who sustained significant injuries.

"We are gathering CCTV footage from in and around the area, and I'd appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to get in touch.

"Similarly, I'd also ask those with private CCTV, doorbell footage or drivers with dash-cams to please check to see if you have captured anything that could assist with our investigation."
