A man has been charged with murdering a woman who was found stabbed in a village.

Gilly Livie, 68, was discovered at an address in Cheriton, Hampshire, on 9 January and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Daniel Livie, 39, of Winstreet Close, Alton, was found at the property with serious injuries and was arrested in hospital on Monday, police previously said.

He is due before Portsmouth magistrates on Wednesday charged with murder, as well as with threatening to kill a man on 8 January.

Police discovered the injured pair after being called to the property off the B3046 at about 10:30 GMT.

Gilly Livie was treated by police and ambulance workers but died from a stab wound to the neck, detectives previously said.

The murder accused had serious injuries to his neck and leg, police added.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct as it is understood that officers attended the address prior to the fatal incident.
