A teenager has died after a disturbance in Glasgow.

The 17-year-old boy was found injured following a disturbance on Ashgill Road, in the city's Milton area, about 18:05 on Wednesday evening.

Emergency services attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and police inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

The force said officers would remain in the area as enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.

Part of the street, between Balmore Road and Chapleton Street, was closed to traffic.

Ch Insp Mhairi Crawford said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died at what is a very difficult time for them.

"I am aware of the impact this kind of incident can have on our communities and would like to reassure everyone that extensive inquiries are ongoing."

She added that anyone with concerns or information can contact the force.
