Police are appealing for information after a woman was punched and kicked in an attack in Wolverhampton.

West Midlands Police said it happened on 9 December between 18:45 and 20:15 GMT on Francis Street.

The woman's hair was pulled and she suffered a cut to her face, the force said, and appealed for witnesses and those who intervened to stop the assault to come forward.

A 59-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, officers said, and released on bail with strict conditions as inquiries continue.
