Quote secured for village flood defence works
BBCA quote for the cost of work on a flood alleviation scheme in Worcestershire has been secured, a council has said.
Work on defences to protect the village of Severn Stoke was delayed after the Labour government said it had inherited a flood defence programme facing "extreme delivery challenges".
Preparatory work on an embankment began in 2023, but tonnes of delivered topsoil have lain unused.
The county council said it has made every effort to assist the Environment Agency in the progression of the Severn Stoke flood alleviation scheme, and that included getting a quote for the cost of the works. Severn Stoke is built on a flood plain, and the village has flooded five times in four years.
