Darcie and Roman Casselden died after their e-scooter was hit by a car in Pitsea

A woman arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after two siblings died in a crash will not be charged with the offence.

Roman Casselden, 16, and nine-year-old Darcie were on an e-scooter when they were hit by a car in Pitsea, near Basildon, Essex, on 1 February last year.

At an inquest opened and suspended last February, area coroner Michelle Brown concluded the pair died of traumatic head injuries near the Stokefelde junction with Ashlyns.

Deimante Ziobryte, 21, from Benfleet, has already appeared in court charged with failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

Det Sgt Sam Nason said: "My thoughts, and those of my team, are with Roman and Darcie's friends and family.

"Since their death a year ago, we have carried out a thorough and extensive investigation to establish the circumstances which led up to the collision.

"The conclusion of our investigation is that a woman arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving will face no further action [over this]."

Ziobryte is next due in court in March over the failing to stop charge.
