A railway station security guard who lured a 14-year-old girl into his office to sexually assault her has been jailed.

While working at Worcester Shrub Hill station, Aamar Mohammed approached his victim and walked her to the platform she needed to catch her train on 14 November 2021.

Under the guise of offering her somewhere warm to wait, he invited her into his office where he turned the lights off and attacked her, British Transport Police (BTP) said.

The 35-year-old, of Shireland Road in Sandwell, was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault and was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court to three years and eight months in prison.

Following the attack, the teenager managed to get away from him and boarded her train.

BTP said he then emerged from the office and waved at her as the service left the station.

The victim, who suffered bruising, reported Mohammed's actions to her family who called the police and he was arrested the same evening.

The force said specialist support was provided to the girl throughout the investigation and as the case progressed.

Following sentencing on 12 January, Det Con Tim Friend said: "Aamar Mohammed used his trusted position as a station security guard to prey on a teenage girl and subject her to a deplorable sexual assault.

"His attack was so forceful that it left the victim with physical injuries, and will no doubt have a lasting impact on her psychologically. It is down to her bravery in reporting him to police, and determination to stick with the process as it progressed through the courts, that we have been able to bring a truly vile man to justice."

Mohammed was also handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and placed on the sex offenders register for life.
