A square in Eastwood is set for renovation works after £12,000 was set aside for the project.

Broxtowe Borough Council said The Hollies will get two new benches, three flower planters and a community noticeboard, as well as mosaics of author D.H. Lawrence, the Eastwood Tram and the Midland Railway.

Funding for the works has come from the East Midlands Combined County Authority, which in turn has received money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Improvements are due start on 9 March.

Milan Radulovic, portfolio holder for economic development and asset management at the council, said: "This is a welcome and much-needed investment into Eastwood town centre, helping to give the town centre a rejuvenated feel and residents pride in their home.

"It's fantastic that work also includes a subtle nod to some icons that, each in their own ways, have shaped the very town we see today."
