An 88-year-old van driver died when he crashed into a stationary car in Warrington.

Cheshire Police said the man's silver Ford Transit Custom van struck a black Audi A3 just before 16:30 GMT on Saturday in Penketh Road, Great Sankey.

The van driver, from Widnes, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the Audi was "unoccupied" at the time.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses or dashcam footage and the force said the man's next of kin "have been informed and are being supported".
