A town centre was sealed off following reports of a suspicious package on the road.

A West Midlands Police cordon was put in place near the junction of St Pauls Street and Bridge Street, Walsall, on Wednesday after it received reports at about 06:45 GMT.

The bus station on St Pauls Street and nearby streets in the town centre were sealed off for several hours while police made further investigations.

Officers inspected and removed the item from the area, describing the incident as a "false alarm with good intent."
