Police were called to Lewsey Sports Park and Pool in Luton after reports of gunshots

Two men have been charged with attempted murder after reports that gunshots were heard near a leisure centre.

Bedfordshire Police was called to Pastures Way in Luton, near Lewsey Sports Park and Pool, at about 22:00 GMT on 19 December.

The pair - a 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both from Luton - have also been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and were due at the town's magistrates' court.

Two other men, both in their 20s, have already been charged with attempted wounding with intent. Police said no-one was injured in the incident.

A fifth man who was arrested last week on suspicion of attempted murder was released on police bail.
