Man to stand trial after university bomb hoax denials

A man will face trial next year after he denied causing three bomb hoaxes at the University of Reading over six days.

Muzammil Ayyaz, 30, of Lemon Grove, Feltham, denies causing hoaxes on 13 September 2023, 15 September 2023 and 19 September 2023 and appeared at Reading Crown Court on Monday.

He also denies sending four counts of sending offensive, indecent or menacing messages between 14 June 2023 and 12 August 2023.

Mr Ayyaz was granted conditional bail ahead of the trial from 2 February 2026 and told not to enter Berkshire except for when he attends court. He must also not contact any of the university's staff, students or anyone else connected to it.
