Three charged after flag protests in Belfast

Three people have been charged in connection with protests in Belfast on Tuesday after a Palestinian flag was flown over Belfast City Hall.

The flag was put up shortly after midnight and was in place until dusk, however, there were scuffles near city hall between a group of people against the decision to fly the flag and counter protesters.

A 20-year-old was charged with disorderly behaviour and a provocative act outside Belfast Courts, where a legal challenge over the decision to fly the flag took place on Tuesday afternoon.

An 18-year-old man and 46-year-old man have also been charged with disorderly behaviour following a further protest outside Belfast City Hall on Tuesday evening.

All three are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on 30 December.
