The Balnaan bridge, near Carrbridge, could collapse if vehicles continue to use it

A bridge in Badenoch and Strathspey will close to traffic from Monday after a review found its stability was at risk.

Highland Council said a structural assessment of Balnaan bridge, near Carrbridge, discovered "overstressed half-joints".

A spokesperson said continued vehicle use could result in its collapse. The local authority said future funding could support a possible solution.

Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists. A vehicle diversion will be in place from Monday, via Carrbridge and the A938.
