Fire crews have been tackling a blaze that broke out overnight at a property in Seaford.

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were called to Cliff Close in the town at 02:43 GMT on Sunday morning following reports of a fire.

The service said the blaze was extinguished just before 08:00 but, at its peak, eight fire appliances were on the scene, as well as Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service.

It said two people have been passed into the care of the ambulance service.

An East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said its crews would return to the scene later on Sunday to reinspect the property.

People were urged to avoid the area while emergency services were on the scene, the fire service added.
