Temporary classrooms approved for primary school

Plans to build four temporary classrooms have been approved to enable teaching to continue while the school undergoes expansion works.

Two modular buildings will be built at Keresley Grange Primary Academy on Waste Lane, providing temporary teaching space to help with operational demand as the sites undergoes internal reorganisation.

A group room, with toilet and storage facilities would also be installed, a planning statement said.

It added the development, given planning permission by Coventry City Council, was required for the school year starting in September and would be removed once the school's expansion works were completed.

The school, which forms part of The Futures Trust multi-academy network, operates as a mixed primary academy for children aged 4–11, with a campus of about 315 pupils.

The temporary units will be positioned on existing tarmac adjacent to the main school building and close to the school entrance, providing "convenient and safe access" for both pupils and staff.

Planning documents state several existing teaching spaces would be unavailable for the normal curriculum during the works and the development would provide essential space, ensuring the continuity of teaching and safeguarding standards.
