A man has been jailed after he stabbed another man multiple times in a "vicious" attack.

Jordan Williamson, 32, left his victim with serious head, chest and back injuries when he attacked him at the latter's home in Biddulph, Staffordshire, on 15 March.

The wounds sustained by the victim were "life changing", Staffordshire Police said, and Williamson was arrested at the scene before he was charged the next day.

Williamson, of Congleton, Cheshire, was sentenced to 23 years in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after admitting attempted murder at an earlier hearing. Police described it as a vicious attack on a man he had not known.

Williamson also pleaded guilty to possession of a knife/sharp pointed article in a public place, affray and assault by beating of an emergency worker.

Det Con Tracey Gascoine, of Staffordshire Police, said she commended the bravery of the victim throughout the investigation.

"This was a vicious attack on a man inside his own home. He didn't know Williamson," she added.

"We worked hard to bring Williamson to justice and I hope today's sentence goes some way to providing some comfort to the victim and his family."
