Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue says three commercial properties were damaged

An investigation is under way after three commercial properties were damaged in a large fire in Skegness.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said multiple crews tackled the blaze on Old Wainfleet Road which started at about 12:45 GMT on Monday.

No one was injured but three commercial properties were "severely fire damaged", the fire service said. Twenty-five homes and businesses were evacuated.

The service added that the cause of the fire was undetermined.

Old Wainfleet Road, Queens Road and Cross Street were closed on Monday, Lincolnshire Police said.

Nearby properties were evacuated "as a precautionary measure", the fire service added.

Residents were warned to close windows and doors to prevent smoke from entering their properties.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said six appliances, an aerial ladder platform and a water carrier had been in attendance initially and described it as a "large-scale incident".

The service said the incident was scaled down just after 17:08 on Monday.
