Speeders warned after driver caught doing 130mph
Essex PoliceA police force said it had clocked drivers travelling at "unacceptable" speeds ahead of Christmas, with one caught doing 130mph (209km/h).
Essex Police said it recorded 568 offences during a week of operations where its roads policing teams enforced limits and spoke with drivers.
Officers caught the highest-speed driver on the A13, but also found someone going at 127mph (204km/h) on the A130.
"The speeds we've seen are unacceptable," said Adam Pipe, head of roads policing.
"Our teams will continue to be out across Essex targeting those who pose a risk, particularly over the Christmas period.
"Please slow down – it could save a life," he added.
The teams also checked 180 vehicles along the A414, where a new 50mph (80km/h) limit has been brought in after a number of fatalities.
