Detectives have found no evidence that crimes took place at a nursery after a former member of staff admitted child sex offences.

Zara Lancashire, of Datchworth Turn, Hemel Hempstead, admitted making and distributing indecent child images and publishing obscene articles at a hearing in St Albans Crown Court on Wednesday.

Hertfordshire Police said it had spoken to more than 100 parents of children at Flower Pots Day Nursery in Kings Langley but all of Lancashire's offences "were committed online".

The 20-year-old will be sentenced on 5 March.

She admitted a total of 11 offences - four of distributing indecent child images, three of making indecent child images and four of publishing obscene articles.

Some images she admitted distributing were classed as category A – the most severe.

Det Ch Insp James Howarth said: "Zara Lancashire has admitted to serious offences committed while in a position of trust. We welcome that she will now be brought to justice.

"I want to reassure the public and parents of the nursery that following a thorough investigation by my detectives, which involved speaking to over 100 parents and guardians, no evidence was found relating to any child who attended Flower Day Pots Nursery.

"All of Lancashire's offences were committed online. I would like to thank those parents and guardians for their patience and co-operation during what was understandably a very worrying time."

Flower Pots Day Nursery said in September that it had suspended a member of staff who worked at a site in Kings Langley.

The nursery has been approached for comment.
