A Boss Mart shop has permanently closed after its owner was fined for selling illegal tobacco, vapes and fake Labubu dolls.

West Midlands Police said the closure followed an investigation by Solihull Council's Trading Standards licensing team and Shirley neighbourhood team into Boss Mart 4 on Stratford Road, Shirley.

Officers found 4,350 packet of illegal cigarettes, 837 illicit hand rolling tobacco, 68 single use vapes, counterfeit Labubu dolls and unlicensed fireworks.

The owner, Dawood Kharoty, was sentenced in his absence and fined £6,749, with the seized goods forfeited.

The shop owner had already been evicted by the landlord, so a formal closure order was withdrawn.

PC Prescott from the licensing team said the action aimed to protect vulnerable residents.

"Selling high strength vapes and illegal cigarettes to children poses serious health risks and encourages addiction," she said.

"Illegal tobacco can contain dangerous substances and contribute to anti-social behaviour in the community."

Authorities said the operation highlights ongoing efforts to ensure local retail premises comply with the law and keep communities safe.
