Plans for Coronation Park include a cycling pump track and sand dunes

Formal plans for improvements to a Jersey park which include a cycling pump track have been submitted by the government.

Sand dunes, a nature play area and an amphitheatre have also been included in the plans for the playing field next to Coronation Park in St Lawrence.

In its planning and design statement, Infrastructure and Environment (IE) said it hoped the project would lead to the community "utilising the space and promote an active lifestyle which could improve health and wellbeing".

A tender for bids to design the cycling pump track - a small looping route with bumps and turns used by people with bikes, skateboards, scooters and rollerblades - was put out in December.

IE said other parts of the improvement plans included changes to pedestrian and vehicle access points at the site and the planting of trees and hedges.

A consultation on the future of Coronation Park was held after land at Millbrook Playing Fields was gifted by an anonymous donor to the island in 2022.

Government officials said the plans would formalise the "connectivity of the park and playing fields".

"It is hoped families and the community will utilise the space once it is formally connected with the large open green space used for ball games, running and playing games, learning to ride a bike etc," IE added.
