A lorry driver died after his vehicle crashed into a Hampshire river in the aftermath of Storm Chandra, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the scene in North Gorley in the New Forest shortly after 13:00 GMT on Tuesday.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed the driver, a man in his 60s, died at the scene.

The crash happened after the area was hit by severe weather, with many motorists left stranded because of flooding throughout the day.

The force said inquiries were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
