Attempted murder arrest after man seriously hurt

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man was found seriously injured.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was believed to have been assaulted in the Chantry Avenue are of Walsall in the early hours of Sunday.

He was taken to hospital, where he remained in a serious condition, said West Midlands Police.

The other man, 43, remains in police custody and will be questioned on suspicion of attempted murder, said the force, which has appealed for information.

"We have been carrying out a range of inquiries, including speaking to residents and reviewing CCTV," a force spokesperson said.

Local officers will remain in the area for reassurance as the investigation continues.
