Arrest after worker dies at book warehouse
GoogleA man has been arrested following the death of a worker at a warehouse.
The 23-year-old died after reports of an industrial accident at Hachette UK Distribution's warehouse on Milton Road in Didcot, Oxfordshire, on Tuesday at about 09:45 GMT.
A spokesperson for the firm, which warehouses books for more than 30 publishers, said the incident "heartbreakingly led to the loss of a much-loved colleague".
Thames Valley Police said a 21-year-old man from Wallingford had been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. The force said he had since been bailed.
The man's next of kin had been informed and offered support by officers, police said.
The force added that officers would remain at the site "for some time as we carry out our investigation into the death".
In a statement, the firm, which also ships books, said: "Our deepest condolences are with their family and friends who are in our thoughts at this devastating time."
It added: "We are fully cooperating and working with the emergency services.
"We are doing everything we can to support the family, our staff and all those impacted."
The warehouse remains closed.
