Willerby Holiday Homes confirm 131 job losses

Hull-based holiday homes manufacturer Willerby has confirmed 131 jobs have been cut after a consultation with staff.

Workers were put at risk of redundancy before Christmas after production was reduced and a slump in sales.

In a statement, bosses said their "full focus" was on "moving the business forward strongly" and praised the commitment and dedication of the workforce.

Last year the firm reported a record turnover of £217m and a fourfold increase in profits.

The consultation was launched in December with the company saying it had "no choice but to adapt to very challenging market conditions".

Two production lines at the factory on Hedon Road saw operating hours cut back to two days a week and short time working arrangements brought in.

Willerby Holiday Homes claims to be one of the UK's largest manufacturers of static caravans and lodges, building a third of all new units for holiday parks.
