Sheep killed in dog attack in forest, rangers say
Ashdown ForestA sheep has been killed in a dog attack in Ashdown Forest, rangers say.
The attack was believed to have taken place in the permanent grazing enclosure on the South Chase on Friday morning.
The ewe sustained bites to her back legs and was taken from the Duddleswell cattle grid to Crest Farm for treatment, where it later died.
"We are sad to share that a sheep was attacked by a dog," an Ashdown Forest spokesman said.
“Sheep worrying is a crime which can have very serious consequences for the dog, its owner and, obviously, the livestock.
“This is something that could and should have been avoided.”
