Baby in serious condition - man and woman arrested

A man and woman have been arrested after a baby was taken to hospital in a serious condition on the Isle of Wight.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was alerted shortly after 11:30 BST on Friday when the one-year-old was admitted for treatment.

The force said a 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman from Newport were arrested at a property in Dairy Crest Drive.

They are being held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remain in custody, the force said.
